On a warm night at Newton Park Soccer Complex, the Bremen Lions contested a heated Sectional Championship with LaVille in a rematch of last year’s final. In a wonderful moment before the game, both teams joined in collective remembrance of Bremen athletic trainer Kelli Myers who suddenly passed away last week. Students, players, and coaches from both teams joined together in a circle to honor her life and focus on the true meaning of sportsmanship.
It was a tight contest throughout and both teams played with tenacity. The Lions found their breakthrough in the 3rd minute of the second half when Lennin Diaz found Collin Moren who slotted home the goal. Senior keeper Brooks Feldman dominated in the last 10 minutes of the game as he and the Lions defense held firm against a determined LaVille attack. The sectional victory is the second in the Lion’s history, the first coming last year.
