The Lions of Bremen Boys Soccer returned to Elkhart Christian Academy for a rematch of last season's final regular season matchup that saw Bremen win the game with only 3 seconds remaining in the second half of play. The team knew the Eagles would be ready and were excited for a challenging final matchup before starting Sectional play next Wednesday night. The game was back and forth with both teams having possession and creating opportunities throughout the first half, but the Lions found the back of the net as sophomore Josue Pepin beat his defender down the flank and sent in a cross that was expertly finished by senior Austin Town. The game would remain 1-0 going into halftime, but the Lions poured on the pressure at the start of the second half creating chance after chance that ECA's goalkeeper kept out of the goal. As the second half played on, Bremen continued to push forward, but ECA found chances of their own causing the Bremen defense to work their hardest to block and clear opportunities. It was a total backline defensive effort to keep the Eagles from scoring and achieve the victory. Bremen will now start Sectional play next Wednesday night at 7 pm at Mishawaka Marian High School in a first round matchup with South Bend Washington. The Lions finish the regular season with a 12-2-1 record.
