Bremen Athletics

The Bremen Boys' Soccer team, representing the Long Green Line of Bremen Athletics, traveled to 1A soccer powerhouse Bethany Christian on Tuesday night riding an emotional high following their INSC victory over LaVille on Saturday to clinch the conference championship. The team knew the game would be a challenge as Bethany is always well organized and hard to break down. The Lions started strong and created multiple scoring chances in the first 20 minutes, but the Bruins' goalie and defense made save after save to keep the Lions out. Toward the end of the first half, senior Santos Rodriguez solemned through the midfield and hit a left footed curler into the side of the goal to finally put Bremen ahead. The battle continued through the second half with Bremen dominating possession and chance creation and Bethany creating a few chances of their own. The Bruins' keeper made numerous big saves in the second half, but both Bremen keepers were also up for the task throughout the game and helped the defensive line keep a shutout in the tightly contested game. With the win, Bremen moves to 11-2-1 on the season and will look to finish regular season play with another victory as they travel to take on Elkhart Christian Academy Thursday evening.
