Bremen Athletics

The INSC Tournament first round took place on Thursday night with a matchup between the Lions of Bremen and the Falcons of Glenn. The last time the two teams met, a lightning delay caused significant delays and a late kickoff time. An overtime in the girs' game before caused another delay to this first round tourney matchup, but the Lions were ready to roar when the whistle blew. The first 20 minutes saw back and forth action with Bremen creating numerous dangerous chances, but unable to find a goal. As the Lions' started to find more pressure in the attacking third, the first goal came as senior Jonany Diaz found fellow senior Nathan Schnaible for a beautiful shot from 25 yards out that flew over the keeper into the side net. From that point on, Bremen continued its excellent play and scored two more goals in the next 20 minutes. It was truly a unified effort from the team as every single player made an impact on the game and helped the team to maintain the shutout. Sophomores Mason Heighn and Bryce Bishop score their first goals of the season, both from assists from junior Alex Gallegos. The Lions now get a Championship rematch of the tightly contested LaVille game from earlier this week. Come out to support the boys at 12 pm tomorrow on Field 2 at Newton Park as they attempt to defend their INSC title!
