Bremen Athletics

After a deluge of rain hit Bremen throughout the morning, there was major concern that the senior night game could be in jeopardy due to field conditions. Because of the efforts of numerous community members and school personel, the senior night game was not only able to happen, but it was also a fantastic display of quality soccer and an amazing celebration of nine senior Lions. The field saving effort started with the Bremen Parks members Brian Main and Austin Huff draining around 200 galloons of water from the field. Then the Bremen coaching staff went to work draining more water and prepping the field. Bremen AD Justin Grubbs came to the rescue bringing in drying agent to use on the field and helped remove numerous dirt clods. Athletic Trainer Kyle Zuber and Bremen Social Studies teacher and coach Josh Simpson helped spread the drying agent and pack down the field. As the game clock reached playing time, the field was finally ready and the Bremen community had showed up in huge numbers to support the team. The Bremen Emerald Voices sang an amazing rendition of the National Anthem and then it was time for kickoff. The Lions played incredible team soccer throughout the night and demonstrated their ability to play high level passing patterns and solid defense. At half time, the team honored nine seniors: Jovany Diaz, Alex Gonzalez, Santos Rodriguez, Nathan Schnaible, Austin Town, Erlin Martinez, Ian Pepin-Lizardo, George Luna, and Anthony Flores. By the end of the game, the seniors and their teammates had earned a 3-0 victory and had experienced an overwhelming amount of support from the incredible Bremen fans that brought so much energy and noise throughout the night!
