MS Football Falls to Fairfield in Opener

Middle school football hosted Fairfield to begin their season on Tuesday. The 8th grade/A showed some flashes in the first half, but ultimately were downed 38-0 as Fairfield took control in the second half. QB Jake Bogunia led the way for the Lions on offense, scrambling for a number of big runs and connecting on some clutch passes to move the chains. RB Dawson Brown was able to pick up some tough yards on the ground as well, but the Bremen offense couldn't find the end zone. WR Caleb Snell hauled in a deep pass from Bogunia for the Lions' biggest play of the game. Defensively, LB Sam Garner, S Nate Stine, LB Bennett Burks, and DL Jo Smith each racked up multiple tackles against an effective Fairfield offense. The 7th grade/B team played an abbreviated game, falling 6-0. QB Remington Piper led the team on offense, breaking off some big run plays to move the Lions offense. On defense, DL Ethan Schori was a force at the line of scrimmage and LB Shayde Dutoi recorded multiple tackles. Although the results weren't what the team wanted, Bremen players deserve credit for their toughness and team-first attitude, as nearly every player played both sides of the ball. The 7th/8th Lions will head to Triton next week for a week 2 matchup with the Trojans.
