After an incredibly strong showing in their home Sectional meet, the Lady Lions were riding a wave of excitement toward the Regional meet hosted by Goshen High School on Tuesday evening. The girls had trained incredibly hard all week and had shown fantastic focus and grit pushing through grueling workouts to prepare for the challenge that would come. With weather conditions and a track surface heating up, the girls were ready to make their community proud and fight for their best performances of the season. The Feathers sisters got the meet going in pole vault and high jump, were Teagan nearly cleared a personal best 9' and Skylee cleared 5'1 in high jump to tie for a 6th place Regional finish. The girls 4x800 relay team of Lola Bender, Grace Moyer, Lauren Hartsell and Charlotte Rink ran one of their best times of the season with a 10:47.31 and a couple of the girls hit their personal best times. Emma Kincaid broke her own school record in the 200 for the 2nd time this season during the prelims running a blazing 25.64. She then broke her school record in the 400 dash running an incredible 57.08 to place 2nd and move to the state finals next Friday. Kate Kincaid was seeded 8th in the 800 run, but that didn't stop her from going out strong with the lead runner and not only stick with her, but outkick her in the final 50 meters to become the Regional Champion! Kate's gutsy performance broke her school record with a superb 2:15.17 and puts her in the state finals next Friday. The 4x400 relay of Sara Sahlhoff, Lola Bender, Sophia Sahlhoff, and Emma Kincaid ran their best time of the season with a 4:04.94, good enough to be the 3rd fastest time in school history and placing them 5th overall in an incredibly competitive field of relays. The Kincaid sisters will compete in the State Finals at North Central High School next Friday June 5th with gates opening to spectators at 3 pm. The 400 dash is scheduled to run at 7:05 pm and the 800 run is scheduled for 7:45 pm. The girls team finished 10th overall in the Regional. We are so proud of all of our Regional Finalists!!
