Lions Track & Field Compete at Sectional; Move 2 Boys 1 Relay to Regionals

After celebrating the final day of school on Wednesday, the Mighty Lions took the short ride over to Plymouth High School on Thursday evening for the IHSAA Sectional 6 meet. The boys knew there would be fierce competition and advancement to the Regional at Warsaw would be a challenge, but they were focused and ready to perform at their absolute best. When the meet concluded, the Lions had placed 7th overall as a team and had moved 2 individuals and 1 relay to the Regional competition. Caleb McClaid was the first Lion to qualify for the Regional placing 3rd overall in the pole vault competition with a vault of 12'. Just behind him in the standings was teammate Jack Kincaid, who also cleared 12' and was given a callback to the Regional. The boys 4x800 relay team of Joseph Davis, Lincoln Yoder, Jack Kincaid, and Ben Brady ran their best time of the season with an 8:50.92 and will move on to the Regional competition through the callback process. Other point scorers for the Lions: 200 dash - Jacob Douglass (7th) 400 dash - Jake Rodriguez (6th) 800 run - Ben Brady (5th) 4x100 relay - Jacob Douglass, Caleb McClaid, Brayden Pearish, Josue Pepin-Lizardo (5th) 4x400 relay - Jake Rodriguez, Jack Kincaid, Espen Simpson, Ben Brady (6th) LJ - Brayden Pearish (8th) Shot - Logan Frederickson (6th) The Regional qualifiers will compete at Warsaw High School next Thursday with a meet start time of 6 pm.
