Varsity baseball rematched with LaVille on Monday, this time leaving with a 15-4 victory, improving to 2-0 on the season and in conference. The Lions again capitalized on aggressive team baserunning and a clutch pitching performance, this time in relief from JJ Cencelewski. After a scoreless first inning, the Lions plated 3 in the top of the 2nd, all with two outs. After Max Barnes' double, Landon Bates brought him home with a line drive single. Corban Van Vuren, Zack Rouch, and Cencelewski then went walk, single, walk to bring in two more runs. In the third, Bremen extended their lead to 5-0 after Jace Pippenger singled home Aiden Alvarado and later scored on a passed ball. LaVille scored four of their own in the bottom of the frame, taking advantage of a handful of walks and timely hits. Bremen answered right back with five in the top of the fourth, highlighted by RBI doubles from Zack Rouch and Zack Buszkiewicz. Cencelewski - on in relief of Alvarado - took control on the mound and only allowed three baserunners while recording the final 12 outs of the game. The Lions added insurance runs in both the top of the 5th and 7th innings, culminating in a 15-4 victory. The varsity Lions travel to Concord tomorow to take on the Minutemen in a non-conference matchup. First pitch scheduled for 5:00.
