The Lady Lions A team came out swinging at the start of the first game against North Liberty. After aggressive play and strong defense, the Lions lost the first game 20-12. Natalie Gonzalez and Emma Urbina led the team with 4 points each followed by Aubrie Ritter and Olivia Cunningham each adding 2 more. In the second round game, the A team was ahead after the first quarter, but struggled to keep up with LaVille. The final score was 29-9. Emma Urbina put up 5 points. Aubrie Ritter and Natalie Gonzalez also put up 2 more each. Aria Rodriguez and Whitney Inks were defensively strong all game causing several turnovers. The A team finished their season with only 1 win, but the growth in their skills is well beyond that! The B team also lost first round against North Liberty, 20-6. Natalie Main, Maggie Griswold, and Lydia Horner all had 2 points each. In the second game, B team attacked winning 18-16. The girls showed great grit and determination to take home 3rd place in the tournament. Kaydence Brown led the team with 10 points. Iveth Zuniga followed with 4 more. Lydia Horner added in 3 more and Natalie Main with 1. Maggie Griswold had great defense along with Amelia Beery. Layla Dunning added in a few rebounds to help the Lions finish a season with a win. The B team ended the season with 5 wins in all. Again, every girl has grown tremendously and should be proud!
