The Lions traveled to Plymouth for the start of the state series at Sectionals. The guys looked to continue to build on the success. The Lions finished top 3 as a team falling behind Rochester and Warsaw. The Lions wrestled well. 9 out of our 14 guys advanced to next week’s Regionals. Results: 106- Keegan Holderman wrestled hard and upset the number one seed to make the finals. Keegan fell short in the championship match and become the runner-up. He moves on to next week’s Regionals. 113- Cole Thomas wrestled well and walked away with 3rd place and also advanced to next week’s Regionals. 120- Nic Slusser wrestled well and made it to the finals. He came up short and lost his finals match. Nic finished second and will wrestle at next week’s Regionals. 126- Colin Moats upset the second seed in his semi finals match advancing him to the finals. Colin lost to a tough opponent from Rochester. Colin finished second and advances to next week’s Regionals. 132- Raylon Moats found his way to the finals after beating a strong Plymouth opponent. Raylon took on a tough Rochester kid in the finals and came up short. Raylon advances to next week’s Regionals. 138- Miles Greene wrestled hard but came up short in qualifying for Regionals. He placed 5th and will be an alternate. 144- Braxton Ritter wrestled his way to a third place finish and advances to next week’s Regionals. 150- Paul Miller wrestled hard in his first match. He did not place and will not be advancing to Regionals. This was Paul’s first season and he has improved a lot of the season. 157- Ethan Borsodi wrestled hard but came up short and placed fifth making him an alternate for next week’s Regionals. 165- Payton Ballinger wrestled hard but came up short and did not place. Payton has wrestled hard and has improved as the season went on. This was also his first year on the high school team. 175- Brody Walter wrestled hard but came up short and did not place. This was Brody’s first year wrestling. He improved throughout the season. 190- Derek Miller wrestled hard and found himself in the finals against a solid Rochester opponent. Derek avenged a loss from earlier in the season and teched his opponent making him a Sectional Champ. 215- Brenden Rice wrestled hard all day and placed 3rd. He advances to next week’s Regionals. 285- Logan Frederickson wrestled hard and made it to the finals and wrestled a solid Rochester opponent. Logan came up short and took second place. He advances to next week’s Regionals. The Lions will get back to the practice room and prepare for next week’s Regionals with 9 out of 14 weight classes. The 9 wrestlers have to win their first match to advance to Semi State.
