The Girls traveled to Whitko to start their season. Two out of our three Lady Lions competed today. The Lions were one of the smallest teams at this tournament but that did not stop these to Lady Lions. The Lions ended up in 21st place with 23 points. McKenzie Scott went 2-2 on the day. She won her first two matches by pin and advanced to the semi finals were a solid Lakeland wrestler. McKenzie then went on to lose her consolation semi finals match in a very close match 10-8 against Wawasee. This is a huge improvement from a year ago. Makenzie Shumaker went 2-1 and was runner up. She had a bye the first round and then went on to tech fall her next two opponents. We would then face a very solid sophomore from Western High School who got 5th last season at State. Makenzie ultimately came up short but this was also an improvement from last season, Both ladies showed great signs of improvement and also learned from some mistakes. Keep working and improving ladies. The Girls will be back in action next Saturday at Penn High School.
