Girls Varsity Softball · Senior Diamond Gems – McKenna, DD & Erin

Head Softball Coach Mike Huppert, “We are going to miss all three Seniors after this year.  I feel terrible they were not given their Senior Seasons to enjoy, reflect back on previous years, and most of all, leading and showing the underclassmen how to play the game the correct way, how to prepare and improve each and every day, and just set the example that would help continue our success on the softball field.”

“McKenna has worked very hard over the last 4 years to become the player that she is to help Bremen Softball continue it ‘s success.  She has played several positions in her Bremen softball career, & this year would have probably been another change.  Through it all, she worked hard to be the best she could be, not only defensively, but hitting as well.   I would guess most every time she took batting practice, she would want “one more” to allow her to end on a good swing/hit – so she could remember that “feeling”.   It was that extra work that allowed McKenna to improve and help the Lions success.   I hope that McKenna will never forget that last “feeling of pure joy” after our game in W. Lafayette.  It is the best feeling ever.”

“After taking last year off – DD was coming back for her senior season to help the Lions continue to be successful.  I expected DD to bring her “grit” and determination she displayed on the basketball court this past winter.  She is strong young lady, and I was really excited to see how DD would be able to help us.  She could play several different defensive positions, & when she make contact with the bat, the ball would jump.  Her smile will be missed by all Bremen coaches!”

“Erin is the best female softball player I have ever witnessed coaching &/or watching softball for over 35 years.  She is a joy to be around, works extremely hard to improve every day, and her game intensity is infectious to all, including her coaches.  She is very humble with her individual success and showed so much joy, excitement, and maybe a little bit of relief with all the Seniors last year after winning the State game.  Her positive attitude and pure determination gave all the girls last year a sense of confidence they may not have had on their own.  We are not a one person team by any imagination, Erin knows that and is willing to do whatever it would take to win.  I wish her nothing but the best on her next journey.”
