Effective immediately, valid physical and consent forms presented to the Bremen Athletic Office during the 2019-20 school year shall be valid during the upcoming 2020-21 school year.
The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) in conjunction with the Commission of Sports Medicine of the Indiana State Medical Association announced a revision to the annual physical exam requirement for IHSAA sponsored sports. Physical exams recorded on the official IHSAA form and dated April 1, 2019 or later will be accepted for athletic participation during the entire upcoming 2020-21 school year. This revision was made in consideration of the limited access to physicians for non-emergency visits due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All physical exams dated April 1, 2019 or later and filed with the Bremen Athletic Department will be accepted for grades 5-12 starting with the 2020 fall athletic season. Online sports registration (Register My Athlete) will reflect this requirement as completed if a student submitted a physical to participate in athletics during the 2019-2020 school year.
It may be suitable for parents to have a more recent physical examination performed on their child, but it would not be required to participate in athletics at Bremen Public Schools IF there is a physical dated April 1, 2019 or later and it is filed with the athletic office. If a more recent physical is submitted to the athletic office, it will replace any previous examination forms.
All BPS students participating in athletics must have a physical examination by a physician holding an unlimited license to practice medicine, a nurse practitioner, or physcians assistant who shall clear the student for athletic participation using the IHSAA Pre-Participation Evaluation form.
