Multiple Teams · 2019 Wall of Fame Inductee – Kaelyn Shively

Kaelyn Shively was a 3-sport athlete earning 11 varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and softball while becoming one of the most celebrated pitchers is BHS history. After hurling the Lions to a 2018 State Runner-Up finish, Kaelyn led Bremen back to the state’s final game in 2019 where the Lions captured the IHSAA Softball State Championship with a 2-1 victory over Tecumseh. Following the state championship game, Kaelyn was awarded the 2019 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award and Scholarship. She became only the third recipient from BHS to receive this prestigious honor joining Jenni Andrews (softball-2008) and Abraham Hall (wrestling-2012). With Kaelyn in the circle, the 2019 softball team became the first team in school history (in any sport) to win an overall Northern Indiana Conference championship. During her career, Bremen Softball captured 3 sectional championships, 2 regional crowns, a state runner-up title and a state championship ring. For the last four years, the Lions compiled an overall record of 95-20 including a mark of 55-6 while Kaelyn completed her junior and senior seasons. Statistically, Kaelyn’s pitching line as a senior was daunting with a record of 23-0, a miniscule ERA of 1.17 and an opponent batting average of .152. In 2018, her pitching line was an impressive 21-4 / 1.57 / .198. Equally feared at the plate, Kaelyn’s career included a batting average of .400 with 14 home runs while reaching base 50% of the time she made a plate appearance. Kaelyn’s many softball accolades include two-time All Northern Indiana Conference selection, two-time Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association (ICGSA) All-State, ICGSA All-Star Game and ICGSA Academic All-State honors. In addition to softball, Kaelyn received All-NIC honors and was named to the Academic All-State teams in both volleyball and basketball during her senior year. Bremen Basketball finished her final season with a record of 19-7 along with Bi-County and NIC South championships. Shively also added a Most Valuable Volleyball Player award and was named BHS Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year. Kaelyn will attend Ball State University and study Audiology. Congratulations Kaelyn! Shively Link
