Ryan Caldwell was a 3-sport athlete for Bremen earning 9 varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. A 2-year starting quarterback in football, Ryan’s senior season ranks among the best in BHS history. Ryan completed 54% of his passes for 1,776 yards and 26 touchdowns against only 5 interceptions. He averaged 17 yards per completion and ended with a stellar quarterback rating of 114. Equally adept at running the ball, Ryan led the team with a 8.2 average yards per carry and totaled 559 yards on the ground while reaching the end zone 9 times. Ryan’s exploits led Bremen to a 2018 Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) Division Championship and a trip to the IHSAA semi-state championship game after capturing titles at the regional and sectional. Bremen finished their season with a record of 11-3 and a state ranking of #3 in Class 2A. As a senior, Ryan was not only named to the NIC’s 1st team, but also awarded the Northern Indiana Conference Most Valuable Football Player. In basketball, Ryan was a 2-time leader in 3-pointers made, assists, free throw percentage and was the second leading scorer for Bremen. In addition, Ryan roamed centerfield for the Lions as a 3-year varsity starter in baseball and as a senior was among the state leaders in stolen bases swiping 53 bags in 56 attempts for his career. During his junior and senior seasons, Ryan batted lead-off with a .370 average and an on-base percentage of .500. He also led the team in triples and walks. Caldwell was named Outstanding BHS Male Athlete of the Year. Ryan is currently pursuing an apprenticeship in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Congratulations Ryan! Caldwell Link
