BHS graduate, Katie Lafferty (pictured left), is finishing up her storied swimming career at Division I Saint Francis University and was recently honored for her accomplishments (Congrats Katie!):
Katie’s career has been highlighted by an individual conference title, serving as captain for two seasons, and being named sophomore student athlete of the year by the Saint Francis Athletic department. Lafferty holds the school record in the 500 Freestyle (4:53.19 set on 2/25/16), the 200 Freestyle (1:50.00 set on 2/26/16), and was apart of the school record setting 200 Freestyle Relay (1:34.00 set on 2/25/16). On her way to setting the school record in the 500 Freestyle, Lafferty also won the event and became an NEC individual champion. Along with being an NEC champion, Lafferty is also an ECAC champion in the 100 backstroke. Lafferty has been named NEC swimmer of the week seven times in her college career, setting the record for most NEC swimmer of the week awards by anyone at SFU.
