On Thursday night, Bremen High School played host to 10 other teams for the Sectional track meet and the Lions did not disappoint on their home turf. The boys placed fourth overall with great performances along the way.
Senior Grant Klockow placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash to advance to regionals and also placed 6th in the 100 dash. Junior Chase Carrico placed 2nd in pole vault to advance to regionals and anchored the 4×100 meter relay team of Zack Miller, Kain Hammons, Briley Leeper, and Carrico, with their best time of the season taking 7th place. Hammons also placed 8th with his personal best in the long jump.
Freshmen Evan Yoder had a fantastic night placing 5th in the 200 meter dash and 4th in the 400 meter dash, an amazing accomplishment running in the second of three heats and bypassing 4 runners in the faster heat. Senior Garrett Allen placed fourth in the shot put with a new personal best. Sophomore Evan Manges placed 4th in the 110 hurdles and 6th in the high jump, while fellow sophomore Justin Zumbrun placed fourth in the 300 hurdles. Senior Luke Snyder placed 7th in the 800 meter run. Sophomore Logan Fish placed 6th in the mile and also ran with Snyder, Kenny Hilgendorf, and Seth Young on the 5th place 4×800 relay.
In the final event of the night, Yoder, Manges, Zumbrun, and Klockow took 5th place in the 4×400 relay. Klockow and Carrico will now advance to the Kokomo regional next Thursday.
